I want to preface this post by apologising for not keeping to my planned schedule. My plans for Wednesday were pushed forward a little further than I expected so I didn’t end up finishing the post on time to publish it. However, it is being published today, and I will make up for my fumbling by posting over the weekend.
Now for what I planned on talking about, today I want to review the Holika Holika Aqua Max Sebum Control Moisture Cream. I ordered this online and have been using this as my go-to moisturiser throughout the summer when my skin has been especially oily. I bought this from a trusted eBay store (unfortunately I can’t remember which one of the two that I normally buy from), and I paid approximately £10.00, if I remember correctly.
I’ll be honest, when I bought this I thought I was buying a much much smaller tub of product, but this contains 120ml of product, and the jar is certainly something to contend with. My photos won’t really do it justice, but it takes up my entire palm just to hold it. I guess that says I either have really small palms (which arguably, I do) or the jar is huge (which arguably, it also is).
The jar comes in the box displayed above, as well as having a tiny, clear spatula, which I use to take product out of the jar. I think this is a great for maintaining the hygiene of the product, as I clean the spatula regularly and never apply the spatula to my face unless it’s already cleansed and moisturised. The only drawback for me is figuring out a way to store this on my vanity/desk so I don’t lose it. At the moment, it sits on top of my jar and I have to take care not to knock my desk too hard or to take the spatula first before I lift the jar. Sure, simple little solutions, but hard to remember when the spatula is transparent and easy to look through.
As for the product itself, to call this a ‘cream’ in this case is a little bit inaccurate as it is definitely more of a gel formula. For me, this is the ideal texture for my oily and sensitive skin, and is something I consider a huge plus. The gel smooths really nicely over the skin, and definitely allows for the “little goes a long way” approach. If you’ve been reading my blog for some time, then you’ll probably have noticed that I particularly admire brands and specific products that do this. I am not a fan of wasting my products, and this is one product where I think I can stretch this to last a very long time. I can’t remember when exactly I started using this product, but it’s definitely been around 4-6 months at least, and I’m only now starting to see a dent in the product. I’ve joked with my boyfriend before, but I can honestly see myself storing this away when winter arrives, then using this again for another spring/summer cycle and maybe a following year after that, with how long this is lasting so far.
The product does have a very mild scent, although it’s frustrating me as I can’t quite figure out exactly what that scent is. But it’s honestly not very invasive, and fades very quickly. I am genuinely really happy about this product. The only ‘problem’ for me is that I cannot easily get hold of Korean brands of makeup and skincare here in the UK, and it drives me mad!
This isn’t the first Holika Holika product I have tried, so if you’re interested in other products by the brand that I’ve hauled or talking about, I suggest taking a read through my Canada haul post, where I bought some Holika Holika products, among other Korean brands back with me.
Overall, I really recommend this product for people with normal to oily skin. This product is one of three in a line of Aqua Max moisturisers, with three different formulas for different skin needs. It’s not like me to feel so strongly and so positively about a skincare product, but I really do love this moisturiser, and one I would definitely repurchase – if I ever get through the jar I have now!
Thank you for much for reading my blog post, it truly means the world to me. I will have a post up tomorrow, so I hope you will consider reading it. Otherwise, please take care and I love you so much.
