In the process of moving home, some of my belongings got misplaced, and this included a few of my skincare bits and pieces. One of them includes the Garnier Charcoal Face Scrub, which can be found in Boots and Superdrug for £4.99. This scrub has been a product I was using roughly once to twice a week to counter my oily skin, and I had a gentler scrub for when my skin didn’t need such deep exfoliation.
What attracted me to this product was the idea of it fighting the marks left behind after spots, as well as preventing new ones. Honestly, I’m very skeptical when a product makes a claim like this, since these are skin problems that if they are tackled, make a huge difference to the skin and personally, a massive difference to my self-esteem.
The texture of the scrub isn’t terrible. It has a gel consistency with small granules. I personally find the granules to be slightly harsh on my mildly sensitive skin, although it’s not too bad that I would stop using it. When the scrub is moistened with water, it foams up slightly, and I find this over dries my skin a bit. I think I should have only used this once a week rather than twice, and I think this would prevent any significant damage to my skin.
During the summer months, this is definitely a product to consider, since the skin can produce a bit more oil. But, unless your skin is extremely oily, I don’t think it’s really necessary to use this scrub. A gentle cleanser and scrub will do the trick nicely, especially since it’ll clean the excess oil, without making the skin overcompensate.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post, it really means the world to me. If you have any scrubs you would suggest, I would love to hear about them. Until my next post, take care.
