So it’s been a few months since my last ‘Products I’m Passing On’ post, which I believe was back in April. Today I have quite a few I want to share with you, and talk about what made me pass these on to someone else as my mindset has adjusted in the past couple of months. So I won’t waffle on, I’m going to jump right into it.
Starting with my skincare and bodycare, I have The Body Shop Seaweed Purifying Facial Cleanser, which for anyone who’s tilting their head at this product, is in their old packaging. I picked this up at my local The Body Shop store when they were changing their product design over, and they were putting their products with the old packaging on severely reduced prices. I used this for a couple of months, but I found it was not really suited for my routine. I used this as my morning cleanser with a cotton round and found it was best for in the shower, but I have too many cleansers to justify holding onto it. I showed this to Mum on Sunday evening, and she seemed to happy to try it as she had just run out of her own cleanser – awesome timing!
Another product is The Body Shop Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue. This is where personal information comes to mind as I really hate feet. My own included. I avoid touching my own feet except when completely necessary, and this product has just sat in my bathroom for months not being used. I showed this to Mum and she seemed interested in trying it. I used it once and was too grossed out touching my feet – even after just getting out of the shower. Let me know if you have a similar feeling about feet. Feet freak me out.
Lastly, I’m letting Mum try out my Holika Holika Pig Nose Cleansing Balm. I adore South Korean skincare and makeup, and I actually really like how this product works with my skin. But it has a really strong lemon scent that my nose just can’t bring itself to agree with. I wish I had easier and more affordable access to South Korean cosmetics as they work so well with my skin from the ones I’ve tried so far. It seems South Korean cosmetics is finally getting their due recognition though, even my Mum is talking about how great they are bigged up to be, and I can say I agree from my own experience.
Moving on to the first portion of makeup I’m passing on, I jumbled two sections together for ease. The first is the Revlon Photoready Skinlights highlighter. I really love this product, but for someone with both oily skin and a love for more subtle makeup looks, this is a bit more hassle than I find it to be worth. The pigmentation is gorgeous, albeit a bit intense on my really pale skin, but it’s just a bit messy for someone like me who prefers simplicity. I’d love to see this in a powder form actually, as it suits my oily skin better, as well as being less messy. Cleaning up excess liquid just doesn’t appeal to me. I’m letting Mum have a hand at it, in case she wants to mix it in with her face products or just alone for special occasions.
As for lip products, I knew the Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss was one I had seen in my Mum’s collection before. So I passed this on knowing it would go to a home that would appreciate it. I found the scent a bit too sweet and strong for me, although the soft glow on the lips is gorgeous.
Lastly for lips, this roll-on lip treatment from Blistex was just a dud for me. The idea of a roll-on lip balm was intriguing for me, as it has a metal ball roll-on applicator, but I found it just did nothing good for my demanding lips. I found that while it was hydrating while the liquid treatment was on my lips, once it dried down, it made my lips feel drier, which is definitely not what I’m looking for. I initially planned to just throw it in with my basket of empties products, but I decided to let Mum try it, as it may work for her.
The final portion are eye products, starting with the GOSH Xtreme Liquid Gel Eyeliner, in the shade ‘006 Plum‘. I reviewed two of the shades in my post here, where I discussed this shade being my favourite of the two I talked about. I decided to pass this shade on as I found it didn’t look as intense as I hoped on top of eyeshadows which is how I found myself reaching for this liner. When applied on its own it looks great, which is why I passed this to my Mum as she may find it’s a little different than brown or black without being too out of her comfort zone. I still have the bronze shade in my collection, but as my tastes and makeup looks change, we’ll see if it stays.
Moving on to the Bourjois ColorBand Eyeshadow stick, I’m passing on the shade ‘04 Rose Fauviste‘. I found the pigmentation for this specific eyeshadow stick a little bit lacking, but as I retest more of my makeup, I may find myself passing on more of these that I have as I found this one to be quite dry, and tugged on my eyelids. I’m hoping it’s just a case of this one shadow stick being a bit off, but I decided it wasn’t right for me anymore.
The last product, and one that I featured in my ‘Makeup Look: Subtle Autumnal’ post from a couple of years ago, which is the Miss Sporty Quattro Eyeshadow quad in the palette ‘408 Smoky Rose‘. I still really like this quad, but I found I have so many eyeshadow singles, palettes and the like that make up this same selection, and decided that it was time to pass this on. I think the colour theme will suit Mum really well, so I felt happy passing this on to a new home. The next couple of months are going to be a bit crazy for me, as I will either be moving to a new area of England, or moving to Canada with my partner, so I’m looking to declutter areas of my belongings, with my skincare and makeup included.
These were all of the products I’m passing on from the past few months. It feels good passing these products on to a new home, as I know they’ll either be loved, or thrown out. I don’t like wasting products, so it’s nice to make an effort to not let it go to waste. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post – I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to read my work. I hope you are happy and healthy.
