Review: Next: Femme Eau de Parfum

One thing I admit I’m terrible at remembering when I get ready each morning is to use some sort of perfume. They can really help pull together a look and makes a change from the ‘samey’ fresh scent of a deodorant stick. Which lets face it, you don’t notice anyways. You just notice that you don’t smell of sweat – which is great of course. But sometimes it can feel really nice to stand out – and in a good way of course. One scent I’ve been using this winter (when I do remember) is this one by Next, called Femme. I bought it for £4 and this is the 10ml bottle, although a larger size is available here. I couldn’t find the size I have online but it should be available in-store unless they’ve run out.

This scent is described as “an elegant oriental fragrance with dazzling fruits offset by golden amber“.

In my opinion it has a very sophisticated, warmth to it which nicely contrasts the cold rigidness of winter. The colour combination of the gold cap and the purple liquid also contrast really nicely: the purple tone matches the coolness of winter with an elegant touch, while the warmth of the gold sums up the scent really well in my opinion. When I wear this scent I feel much more ‘grown-up’ and sophisticated. It’s the kind of scent that’s nice for romantic dinner dates or going to the theatre.

The size of the bottle is great for travel or just keeping in my bag for touch ups throughout the day if it’s needed. While the weather is warming up and we’re starting to transition into spring, I plan on using up this up while the weather suits it. Particularly on those rainy days when this scent can really uplift the mood in a very subtle way.

As someone who doesn’t wear perfumes on a regular basis, I’m quite happy using the size I have. For anyone who does find they like this scent, there are 30ml and 75ml bottles available as well. I’m also happy using this size as my S.O. and a few friends of mine are sensitive to fragrance so wearing perfume on occasion and when it won’t irritate their skin/cause a nasty reaction for them is fine with me.

My only gripe with this is that the cap is very fragile. The thin cylinder that helps form an airlock to keep the cap on the bottle broke off quite a while ago, so I have to keep this wrapped in a plastic bag just in case the lid breaks off and it leaks, or if the pump it pressed while in my bag and sprays the perfume inside of my bag. Although, that said, this is the only problem I have with this product, although that may have been my own fault. But I can’t say for sure.

Is this the kind of scent you would wear? Or do you have any suggestions for scents for other occasions? I would love to read them. Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and if you enjoyed it, I hope you’ll take a look at some of my other posts as well.
