Happy Monday! I’ve been on a bit of a weird hiatus the last couple of months, but I’m returning with a review of the Iunik Centella Calming Gel Cream. I bought this from YesStyle, where I featured this in my YesStyle Haul back in March 2019… I know, that shocked me too! I’ve been using it for several months at this point, and I really kicked myself into gear as I’m at the very end of the tube and wanted to review it while there was still some left to swatch!
This is a moisturising gel aimed at sensitive and blemish-prone skin. This is exactly my skin type, plus the added oiliness. So this really appealed to me as a potentially great addition to my skincare routine.
On the back of the tube it claims:
“This light and moisturising gel cream can help to make sensitive skin blemish calming and relief with centella asiatic leaf water 70% and tea* tree leaf water 10% from skin stress.”*corrected spelling mistake
The grammar is a little bit off, but my understanding is that it aims to provide a combination of calming and acne-tackling effects. With the centella asiatic for soothing the skin, and the tea tree for helping to tackle acne.
I used this as part of my day time skincare routine as one of the last moisturising steps. The gel itself appears semi-thick out of the tube, but when I smooth it out over my skin, it becomes very light-weight. There is a faint scent, but as far as I could see on the ingredient list, it is fragrance-free. The scent doesn’t bother me at all, and I don’t even notice it except to check if the scent is there at all.
I used this alongside multiple moisturising steps in my day time skincare routine, and found it complimented my skincare nicely. It absorbed in quickly to the skin, ready for my SPF to be applied on top within a few minutes. With the exception of one especially sensitive area near my nose (that was reactive to everything I put on my skin) this hasn’t aggravated my skin in general.
Packaging-wise, it’s a very conventional tube, and you squeeze the formula out from the hole from the lid. It was quite to easy to control how much comes out of the tube, so I didn’t feel like I wasting the product.
Overall, I think this is a decent skincare product. I think it’s worth repurchasing, but I’m trying to avoid using skincare that has tea tree in it – as I have an 18 month old puppy who loves to give kisses. Tea tree is an ingredient that isn’t good for dogs, so I’m cutting the product out so she doesn’t ingest even slight traces of it. If that weren’t a factor for me, I’d definitely repurchase it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post, it really means a lot to me to receive your support. I hope you are staying safe and healthy, and I’ll speak to you again soon.
