Happy New Year’s Eve! As 2019 wraps itself up, it’s time to round-up my progress in my final project pan of the year. This spanned from the start of October until today, and features of a mix of products from my previous project pan, and new ones that I started in this specific one. Let’s jump straight in: grab a drink or a snack, you might need it.
Products Brought Forward:
Starting with the products brought forward from the last project pan, I worked through the Super Facialist Tea Flower Deep Clean Pore Purifying Mask. I stopped using this up 10th November, as the formula was beginning to change. I had a little under a quarter of the tube left though, so I feel satisfied that I used as much as I could.
I also brought forward the Quick Fix Facials Mega Moisture Gel Mask, which I haven’t managed to use up. I have approximately a quarter of the tube left, so I’m happy to keep working through it. I’m a bit frustrated to bring this forward into another project pan, but at least this time I’m confident I’ll finish it up in time.
I brought forward the Witch Naturally Clear Blemish Gel, which I plan to stop using from this point. While it’s still in good condition, there’s almost no product left and I think my skin has become somewhat tolerant to the gel. I used this almost daily though, so I feel satisfied with my progress. But I’m eager to find a new spot treatment that’ll hopefully be more effective for my skin.
Starting with the two bathroom products I pulled in for October – December, I was really eager to use up the Head & Shoulders Citrus Fresh Shampoo, after learning that they’re not fully cruelty-free. I successfully emptied this on the 28th of October, so in the earlier stages of the project pan. It’s a huge relief for me to be able to move on from it, as I didn’t intend to buy a non-cruelty-free product.
I stopped trying to empty the Cure – Natural Aqua Gel from the 21st December, as the product wasn’t performing like it used to. The bottle itself had about 1/8 left, so I’m really happy with my progress. This was one of my historic non-cruelty-free purchases, so this is another one I’m happy to move on from.
I picked out a few skincare products to work through, including The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. I successfully emptied this on the 16th of November, so at the halfway mark of the project pan. It’s a nice toner, but I’m enjoying trying some other products that are new to me.
A product I didn’t have any expectations to empty is the Global Beauty Care Vitamin C Facial Oil. This was a product I couldn’t really measure my progress for, but I had used it before I put it in my benched products box, so I assumed I’d made something of a dent already.
I didn’t use this one up, but from trying my best to look inside the bottle, I think I have about a quarter of the bottle left, give or take. So I’m happy to move this one forward and see what progress I can make.
A beloved skincare product in my routine is the PURITO Centella Green Level Eye Cream. This is my go-to day time eye cream, and I have a back-up in my drawer waiting for me. I didn’t use this one up, but I have the last quarter of a tube left.
This was one of those products that really confuses you as you work through it. It felt like it was never-ending for a few months, then suddenly a huge gap in the tube appeared. This prompted me to include this in the first place, and really kept me on my toes throughout this project pan. This is one I plan to bring forward, as I want to get an idea of how frequently I need to repurchase it.
The last skincare item which I also added out of curiosity, is a tube of the Beauty By Earth Organic Lip Balm. This has functioned as my day time and night lip balm, and really kicked the CARE:NEL Lip Sleeping Mask out of its seat lately. I can’t tell exactly how much of the tube is left, but my best guess is that I have worked through half of it. So this will be brought forward as well into the next project pan.
In an attempt to work through my excessive sheet mask collection, I set aside a few to work through over the course of the 3 month period. In this case, I put 2 sheets of the Dermactin-TS Olive and Lavender Collagen Sheet Masks each in this project pan. I successfully used up all 4 of the individual sheets, although I accidentally threw away one of the sachets prematurely. So overall, I’m pretty happy with myself.
Finally, I included one makeup product: this is from the Collection Work the Colour Nude Eyeshadow Palette, but I de-potted it a while ago. This is a skin-tone shade, and sadly lacks a name. This is what I use on my brow bone just to brighten it up in a very subtle, approachable way. I hit pan on it initially back in August, so I was feeling quite confident I could use it up by the end of the year.
This obviously isn’t the case, but I’m still proud of my progress. I didn’t wear lots of makeup through the end of November and throughout December, so I really ‘slacked off’ in terms of making progress on this pan. I will also carry this forward, as I think I can make even more progress moving in to 2020.
Overall, I think I did really well. I did anticipate using up a couple more products than I did, but I’m still proud of myself nonetheless. I’m a bit frustrated to bring forward one product for a third project pan, but this is something I can learn from when picking out skincare products in the future.
Tomorrow I’ll post my goals for January to March, so I hope you’re looking forward to that. My empties and products I’m passing on will be shared, but they’re being pushed to a later date so I can outline my project pan first.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post, it means a lot to me to receive your support. I hope you are happy and healthy, and can welcome 2020 in with hope and joy.
