The past month has felt like something of a crazy one. With the weather in the UK warming up throughout May, my skin has really taken a hit, which I’ll talk in a bit more detail about in my goals section of this post.
For May, I told myself I wanted to continue maintaining my skin, as hormonal issues including stress were driving my skin out-of-whack, with lots of acne troubles driving me mad. I feel like I’ve gradually gotten this under control, although as is the nature with acne, it’s not a problem you can truly ‘fix’, just continue to manage.
I also told myself I was going to organise my skincare and makeup in such a way that I will finally use the hidden products I often keep ignoring. On that topic, I can say I’ve made some sort of progress. I recently purchased a new monitor for my PC set up, which has meant most of my skincare and makeup has moved from my desk to other areas of my bedroom to make space for my new piece of tech. From a beauty perspective, this is a bit of a pain since only my main skincare bits and my cotton buds/pads are now on my desk. On the other hand, this has proven to be really great since it means I’m prioritising them in such a way that I feel myself appreciating them more. From a non-beauty perspective, it also means that my desk is so much more organised, as the mouse mat I bought about a month or so ago now has enough space to sit on my desk, where as before, my desk was too cluttered.
Reflecting somewhat on months that have gone by, I still need to make use of my sheet masks, so I will quickly add this in as a goal. I am terrible at utilising them, and I swear, someday I will remember to use them. One of my issues is that because I am a gamer and live-streamer, I tend to stream during the evenings, so I am on camera during the night when I would think to use my sheet masks, and I do not have it in me to stream while wearing a sheet mask! I think some of my friends would get a kick out of it, but… no. Not happening.
As I briefly mentioned at the beginning of this post, the weather in the UK has warmed up quite a bit and summer seems to be here. This means my skin condition has really shifted lately. While my skin before was oily/sensitive with normal-ish areas on my cheeks – my skin has now become more consistently oily all over my face, although the severest areas remain to be my forehead, nose and chin. The sensitivity of my skin hasn’t really changed much, although I’ve been fighting pet/dust allergies and bits of hayfever, which has left my skin feeling dull. With all of this said, I need to adjust my skincare routine to cope with the extra oiliness and potential dehydration, so that’s a goal I want to set for myself.
Hormone and stress issues are just a repetitive and non-stop issue for me, so although I’m adding this to my goals section, I think it’s fair to say that it can go unspoken most of the time.
I think that’s all I really want to set for myself this month. It mostly comes down to finding a balance in my routine again now that the climate is shifting into summer. Thank you for taking the time to read my post, it truly means the world to me. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop a comment and I will respond as quickly and thoughtfully as I can.
