Today I want to talk about some products I’ve either used up or just throwing away. April has started, and it is time for an empties post. March for me has been a month of settling in, and figuring out my skin all over again as a new apartment has left my skin in a state of panic to adjust.
This leads to the first product I’m throwing away which is the Good Things Acai Berry Multi Tasking Micellar Water, which I’ve been using since around the start of the year. I initially started out quite liking this product for removing my makeup, in spite of the scent being quite strong. However, since moving in with my partner and my skin adjusting to a slightly different climate (it sounds like I moved continents yet I haven’t), my skin is now irritated by it. Specifically, when I use this to remove eye makeup, my eyelids and under eyes burn, and my often takes a few days for the redness to go away. I asked my mum if she’d like to give this a shot, but she politely turned it away, hence why I’m not including this in my ‘products I’m passing on’ post which will I’ll publish in a few days.
Moving on to an actual empty, there is the Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Wipes. These quickly took the place of the previous makeup remover I just talked about, and have worked really well to remove most makeup. While it does break down most waterproof makeup, I do find I still occasionally get panda-eyes the next morning, but I think that’s more attributed to my lack of vigilance rather than the effectiveness of these wipes. They’re reasonably gentle, although hyper-sensitive skin may want to reconsider as wiping to harshly with these does cause mild irritation. But I do also find this with a lot of physically applied products – so wipes, exfoliators, etc.
Next is a recurring product that I go back to, time and time again. These are the Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Make-Up Remover Pads, a product I frequently repurchase as I use them for wiping away swatches for blog posts or just general spot cleaning for my brushes. I will keep going back to these, which is why I’m going to include an affiliate link *here* for anyone who wants to support me and buy what I consider to be an amazing product.
On to a product that disappointed me, there is the Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter which really underwhelmed me.I purchased the travel size tub maybe a year or so ago as part of a deal, and tried it back before the end of the year, and just couldn’t get the product to really absorb fully into the skin. It was very strange, it partly absorbed and then the rest just sat on the skin leaving a greasy feeling where I applied it. I was really disappointed, so I’m just throwing this one away. I’m hoping it was just a dud, but if it’s not, I don’t suggest buying it.
Finally, a less glamorous product, but the Mitchum Advanced 48hr Powder Fresh deodorant. I may have mentioned this one before (I seriously can’t remember) but I’ve learned my lesson from buying 2 of these during a buy-1-get-1-free deal that powder based deodorants aren’t for me. I’m happily going back to liquid based roll-ons.
This is my March Empties of 2017, and I will publish the products I’m passing on within the next few days. Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and I hope happiness follows you wherever you are.
