As it’s the start of a new month, it means it’s time for a round-up on my empties from July. There are a few products this time around, although some I don’t have packaging for or were too messy to keep around, so I’ll refer to them the best I can. Let’s not hesitate any longer, let’s jump in!
Normally I’ll go left to right, but I’m gonna talk about masks first. So starting on the left, I used up one of my Superdrug Cucumber Cooling Clay Mask. I hate to start with a downer, but when I opened one of these, it seemed like it had expired, so I quickly decided not to use the one you see in the photo in case the hot weather and the heat trapped in my office from the past couple of months caused the mask’s contents to separate. Which is unfortunate, since a cooling formula as it claims is the perfect kind of mask to use during the hot and humid weather right now.
The mask on the right is another Superdrug mask, but is instead the Calming Facial Sheet Mask. I actually mistook it at a glance in my drawer for another mud mask sachet, and had already opened it up before I realised my mistake. I like to use masks just before I hop in the shower, so instead, I wore this after to re-hydrate my skin. I was not disappointed. It felt great. Although I’m having super hot showers lately, they’re still warm enough that the feeling of a sheet mask to cool the face down feels amazing.
Sticking to the top row, I’m throwing away my Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub, after stretching this product for as long as I can justify it. I feel sad to throw it away, as I barely dented it. I’ve reviewed this product in the past, so please feel free to check out my review. I definitely would re-purchase this, although I do have a lip scrub from a Korean brand I’m looking to try soon, so that will have to wait.
I talked about the next product yesterday in my Rainy Day Warm Makeup Improv post, but I’m throwing away the brow gel half of my Hard Candy Brows Now Fiberized Brow Gel & Brow Highlighter, as it seems to have mostly dried up now. I’m sad to let go of part of one of my American haul products, but makeup doesn’t last forever, so I’m grateful I got as much use out of this as I can. The highlighter end I will probably never use up, but it sits with my eye-shadow sticks in my collection. The brow gel was a decent match for my dark brows, so I’m grateful I made a good choice back when I bought it.
Next is the Dermactin-TS Collagen Gel Patches, which I’ve reviewed here. Last week I had a really unpleasant allergic reaction, where the under eye of my right eye was red and uncomfortable to the touch. I avoided wearing any makeup on or near that eye, and in a desperate hope of speeding up the recovery process (and on a particularly warm afternoon in my office), I used one of these pairs of gel patches. It was really soothing for the first 20 minutes, and while there wasn’t a noticeable difference immediately, the cooling sensation was much needed. I like to believe this made a difference, although I can’t really prove it unless I have another allergic flare up to test it… I don’t want to experience that again though, haha.
Finally, and I hope my image hasn’t cropped it off, I have decided to throw away my Gosh Waterproof Volume Mascara. In an attempt to remove the potential irritants that caused my allergic reaction, I decided it was time to let this mascara go. I don’t think this is the culprit in hindsight, however, it is getting old, so I don’t feel bad about throwing it away. It’s a decent mascara, it doesn’t create insane volume, but for me this is great as I like having subtle but slightly defined lashes. It is prone to panda-eyes syndrome if you have oily eyelids like me, but this doesn’t usually set in until hours into the day. So I don’t think this is a bad product, just not one of those ‘holy grail’ types that you hear YouTubers hype up.
Overall, it’s been a successful month with a few empties. I did use up a couple of other mud mask sachets, but since I can’t remember (and foolishly didn’t write down what they were, facepalm moment) which ones they were, I don’t want to quote random products and be inaccurate.
Thank you for taking the time to read which products I used up in July. I initially planned to write my ‘Products I’m Passing On’ post tomorrow, but since there’s only one product, I plan to wait until I have more and write a merged post instead. I don’t want to waste your time talking briefly about one product when I’d rather share something more productive instead.
