As the end of the month is finally here, it’s also the end of my first project pan for 2020. The last couple of months have been very difficult for me in terms of my mental health, so I’ve been really lacking for inspiration and drive to post. Instead of posting mediocre content my heart wasn’t in, I decided to take time I needed away and post when I had moments of energy. I’m not sure when I’ll get past this, but I want to be transparent about it.
I did forget to keep hold of a couple of the products from this project pan, I’m not sure where my head was at… But I will talk about them anyway. If you’re new to my blog and you want to see the goals I set out for this project pan, feel free to have a read here.
Products I Brought Forward:
Starting off to a good start, I did use up the Quick Fix Facials Mega Moisture Gel Mask very recently. 29th March, to be exact. This tube lasted such a long time as part of my multi-mask pre-shower routine, and I was really impressed by it. I really enjoyed this product overall and felt a little sad to finally use it up.
A product that I could have used up but didn’t, is the PURITO Centella Green Level Eye Cream. From about late February onward, I really fell into a difficult space with my depression where I really neglected to take care of my skin like I normally do. So had I been better at working through my depression, this definitely would have been emptied. This is my favourite day time eye cream though, so it’s not the fault of the product, but where my head space has been.
At the start of the project pan I set out to use up the Global Beauty Care Vitamin C Facial Oil. I got tired of using it around mid-February, so this is a product that will be featuring in my next Products I’m Passing On post. I will be combining two months together, as I didn’t have enough just from February to justify a dedicated post.
There was nothing really wrong with the product itself, but I was getting bored of the texture, and wanted to move on to something that would be more compatible for me.
As I mentioned earlier, I’m really struggling with a phase of not taking care of my skin, and that includes not wanting to wear makeup. So I didn’t make as much progress through the de-potted shade from the Collection Work the Colour Nude Eyeshadow Palette than I could have. But I’m struggling to pick up colour from the pan now, so I’m going to let this go, as it’s been very well loved. That means I’m left with 3 eyeshadows left in my magnetic palette at the time of writing, which is exciting!
The last product brought forward was an easy empty for me, which is the Beauty By Earth Organic Lip Balm. I used it up February 6th, so around the halfway mark. It reached the point where I couldn’t swipe it across my lips with the plastic bullet scraping my lips, so that’s when I considered it ’empty’.
I set myself the fun task of working through The Body Shop Cactus Blossom Shower Gel, which as you can see, there’s almost none left. I think there’s maybe 4 more uses left at most, so I don’t consider it truly empty, but close enough that I’m still happy with myself. I will move this forward just to be consistent, but I have no worries about it lasting another 3 months!
I anticipated using up the Superdrug Oats & Coconut Intensive Hand Cream, but it fell into the realm of neglect that the rest of my skincare had. With COVID-19 hitting the UK (and the rest of the world) pretty hard, I’ve been making sure to keep my hands sanitised regularly and that has meant my hands and wrists have gotten really dry. However, because my head space was working against me, I just didn’t grab for my hand cream to treat my skin very often, so there’s still about a quarter of the tube left, maybe slightly less.
The two skincare products I picked out are the ones I forgot to keep hold of, so please forgive the wall of text. The first was The Body Shop Camomile Fresh Micellar Cleansing Water, which I used up very quickly. I did review this product so you can check out my thoughts there.
The other which I used up 5th January, and the first product I emptied, was the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream. I really liked this sunscreen and will definitely be keeping it in mind for this winter, as my skin loved it during winter.
I dropped the ball in terms of sheet masks, only using up one of the 3 that I set aside. So the one I used up was the Tony Moly I’m Real Rice Mask Sheet Clear Skin. I enjoyed the experience, but as Tony Moly are not 100% cruelty-free, I knew going into this that I was just using it up rather than looking to repurchase.
The two I didn’t use up were also by Tony Moly, and specifically are the I’m Real Avocado Mask Sheet Nutrition and Pureness 100 Green Tea Mask Sheet Skin Soothing. This is another couple of products that suffered from my head space just not being in a healthy place. But I’ll bring these forward and move into the next project pan working towards a more constructive mindset.
The only makeup product I didn’t make tons of progress on was the Collection Primed & Ready Invisible Setting Powder, as I just haven’t worn makeup a lot through January to the end of March. So I used it a bit during January and early February, but from mid-February onward, I think I wore makeup maybe 3 times at most.
I did stop using the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in ‘Espresso‘ on March 20th, as the formula was starting to change. I do feel like I got a lot of use out of it though, so I’m moving on from it with a good mindset.
Lastly, I misplaced this during the time I was photographing this project pan originally, but I did find the GOSH Eyebrow Pencil in the end. It lasted a few more days before I finished it up. I would definitely consider repurchasing this again when I have a gap in my brow routine.
Thank you for taking the time to read my round-up. I’ll be sharing my goals tomorrow for my next project pan, so I hope you’ll give that a read as well! In the meantime, please by safe and I’ll speak to you again soon.
