First Impression: E.L.F. Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15

After spending a bit of money in the E.L.F. store in Cardiff, they gave me a freebie, which was the Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15, in the shade number #D21. Unfortunately I don’t have the name of the shade, since it’s not on the product, and I didn’t go and select the shade myself, but I would describe this shade as a pinkish red. Again, because I didn’t “buy” this product, it was a freebie, I can’t recall the exact price and the UK website for the company doesn’t show this product, but I would estimate it at between £1-1.50. I normally don’t buy lipglosses – long hair and lipglosses generally don’t cooperate, but I figured this would be fun to try out.

I personally have a soft spot for E.L.F. Their products are super cheap, and generally speaking, the quality is pretty good, especially because their products are so cheap. The staff that work in the Cardiff store are also very friendly and professional, and one of the ladies has also noticed I’m a regular visitor, hehe. I always enjoy looking through the products at my own pace, and isn’t as busy as the drugstores like Boots and Superdrug, which is a nice thing for me.

The packaging of the product is pretty simple: a small plastic tube, with a twistable lid, and a small nozzle and you squeeze the tube to dispense the product. I don’t find this to be much to fuss about. It’s easy to use, and as long as you don’t squeeze the tube too hard, you’re not going to have many issues.

The gloss itself is reasonably pigmented when you first  dispense it. Although once you apply it to the lips, you need to use a lot to get any noticeable pigmentation on the lips. I’ve also found it to be quite sticky, which is a shame, since my hair does get stuck to my lips and then the residue makes my hair look and feel sticky. For a day to day lipgloss, I don’t think this is a bad product, but if you’re looking for a pigmented gloss for a special event, then I don’t recommend this product.

I personally don’t plan on buying this again. I’m not a big fan of lipglosses anyway, but the sticky texture is a huge turn off for me. For anyone with shorter hair, this may not be as big a problem, but anyone with hair that can get be blown in your face, then I would bear this in mind. However, for such a cheap product, this isn’t terrible for the  price you pay, and I don’t regret trying it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post, it means the world to me. If you think you might like my other posts, I would love it if you would consider checking them out. If you have any thoughts or opinions about this product, or have any suggestions, I would love to hear about them.
