I haven’t written a favourites post before, since honestly, I’m terrible at keeping track of what I use, but I have been making an effort since I have an insanely large collection for someone who doesn’t wear a whole lot of makeup. Starting this kind of monthly series is also going to be great to encourage me to take risks when I do wear makeup, and to really appreciate what I buy. For my first post in this new (new on this blog at least) series, these are products that I’ve used the past month that really stood out to me. They’re not necessarily new to my collection, but ones I’ve taken notice of and appreciate. I also want to clarify this isn’t going to be makeup exclusively, but this month happens to be an example of where my skincare hasn’t really stood out to me.
Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR – From the creamy mattes line, this is the shade Creme De Nude 93, which I use as a base for my eyes. I initially bought this hoping to use it as a skin tone match for my super pale skin. It is slightly darker than my skin tone, but I don’t mind since the difference is so minimal that honestly, it isn’t too noticeable. This has been great for neutralising my darkness and veins on my eyelids.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet – It took a bit of a risk for me to initially use this, since I’m terrified of the cracking that lip creams can leave on the lips, but the velvet versions in this line seem to be fantastic. This is the shade 07 Nude-ist in a matte finish, and works well as a ‘my-lips-but-better’ (or slightly darker) kind of shade. I normally have pigmented lips, and this shade works really nicely to make my lips look subtle but more polished.
Etude House Bling Bling Eye Stick – This has been sat in my collection for a while, and is in the shade #01 Shooting Star. I don’t talk about it too much but I love Korean and other Asian based brands, and find both the skincare and makeup works really well with my skin. I love using this particular product for accentuating my inner corners or for my under eye bags – not the dark kind, but the cutesy youthful kind you get when you smile. My boyfriend loves pointing them out when I smile and if he appreciates them, well, I enjoy accentuating them since it makes him so happy.
It’s a small start to this series, but if I find anything stands out to me next month, I will definitely mention them. What have you been reaching for this month? I would love to know which skincare and makeup products you can’t get enough of.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post, it really means the world to me. Tomorrow I will be posting my February Goal Roundup and my March Goals, so I hope you’ll give it a read.
