Happy end of the month! Since I have a list of products I really loved throughout April, this month I’m writing up a favourites post! It’s quite exciting when those months come around where I liked a lot of products enough, so while they’re not always frequent, these are posts I really enjoy being able to write. But let’s not deliberate any longer, let’s discuss my April favourites of 2019.
Starting with an honourary mention, I accidentally left one of my favourites at my parent’s house after visiting over the weekend, which is the Essence of Beauty Lilies & Freesia Fragrance Mist. This is a part of my pre-move project pan, which I wrote a post about. I hope to get my hands on this again as soon as possible so I can keep working on using it up, but it’s definitely been a favourite of mine in spite of my obligation to using it. I love how fresh the scent is and it really makes me think of spring. It feels a little bit cheaty to include it as a favourite, but I genuinely really enjoy it and I felt frustrated with myself when I realised I left it behind.
This month features two skincare favourites, starting with the Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser. This isn’t a favourite for it’s intended use as a moisturiser, but for helping correct makeup mistakes. I squeeze the smallest amount on the back of my hand and tap a cotton bud into the cream, then use the cotton bud to wipe away makeup. For example, I’ve used it to correct eyeliner transferring, eyeshadow blending too far or ending up on my under-eyes, etc. It’s a really simple process for me, and it’s helped correct mistakes with very little evidence left behind, so this is a favourite for me.
The other skincare favourite is one I hauled from YesStyle in March this year is the Purito Centella Green Level Eye Cream. I plan to review this in the relatively near-future, but so far I adore how lightweight and comfortable it is as a day time eye cream. This is also going to last me a long time, so depending on how my schedule for other reviews pans out, this may wait in favour of other products which need reviewing ahead of this one. I always look forward to using this eye cream every day, which is a wonderful feeling to have about a skincare product.
Moving to eyeshadows, the first is the MUA Ever After – Matte Palette, which I recently mentioned in my go-to eyeshadows for spring and summer post. This has been a frequent pick for me throughout April, as I can make complete looks from this palette, or pick shades to complete looks when using single or smaller palettes. MUA is also a really affordable brand, which is always a plus in my book.
The mix of warm and cool tones is great for experimenting on my neutral-cool under tones, but also has a nice variety of light to dark shades as well. There are only a couple of shades I don’t use in this palette, not because of the fault of the formula, but because of personal tastes.
A single eyeshadow I’ve been really loving this month is The Body Shop Colour Crush in ‘Sand By Me‘, which I also mentioned in my go-to eyeshadows post. This is great for setting my GOSH 3in1 Hybrid Eyes which I use as an eyeshadow base, for those extremely minimal makeup looks. It’s also great for blending out my crease shades with a small fluffy brush. This is very much a staple in my makeup collection and I’m slowly but surely making a dent in it.
One cheek product I’ve been really loving throughout April is the GOSH Giant Blush, specifically in the shade ‘06 Pink Parfait‘. This is a very spring-time shade of blush for me, and pairs really nicely with some of the pinkier toned eye looks I’ve been experimenting with lately. I’m in the process of figuring out the best method of applying it as I’m typically a powder blush person. However in spite of being out of my comfort zone with this product, I am really loving my experiences so far.
A lipstick I’ve fallen in love with throughout April is the No7 Moisture Drench Lipstick in the shade ‘Spring Pink 320‘. The shade name speaks for itself, but it’s a beautiful medium pink with a similar shift in shade to the blush above. It’s very spring-time for me and has a beautiful satin finish on the lips. I can achieve a satin-matte finish with this lipstick by blotting it down with a tissue, but both finishes look beautiful, in my opinion. I love how moisturising the formula feels on the lips, and doesn’t feel heavy on the lips either. I typically aim for as matte a lip look as possible as shimmer and glitter do not look good on me. However, I’m finding that satin finishes give me that nice sheen without looking crazy. On days when I’m not reaching for my ‘MLBB’ lipstick (GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick in ‘002 Matt Rose‘), this is the lip product I find myself gravitating towards instead. I have picked up a second shade in this lipstick line as well as I’m really interested in the formula.
This concludes all of my April favourites of 2019. I can’t wait to keep using these products some more (and get my fragrance mist back…), and for the products I haven’t reviewed yet, I do have plans to review in full at a later date. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post, I really appreciate your support. I hope you are happy and healthy, and I’ll speak to you again soon.
