April Empties 2021:

Happy Wednesday! I’m a few days late, but today I want to have a little chat about the products I used up throughout April. I had been stashing empties from January through March, but I decided that going forward, I want to only do empties posts for single months where I actually have enough products to talk about. It was getting stressful to hoard empty packaging for months, so I’m changing things up a bit.

Jumping in though, the first two are from the brand No7. I finally emptied the Revitalising Micellar Cleansing Water, which I used for a long time as a makeup remover on days I did very minimal makeup. For example, eyeshadow and my brows as my look. It was an okay makeup remover, but I don’t see myself repurchasing it. It didn’t wow me.

The other product is the Revitalising Toning Water, which I also don’t plan on repurchasing. My biggest gripe is with the packaging itself, where there’s literally a large hole to pour the product out of once you twist off the lid, which is extremely inconvenient. I poured this toner into a travel spray bottle to compromise with this product. The toner itself is okay, but not exceptional enough to deal with the packaging.

A couple more skincare products I’ve finished include the IUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream. I used this as my day time oil-control moisturiser for several months, and it was really nice. I am however trying to cut out tea tree from my skincare, as my puppy likes to show affection by licking/kissing my face, and tea tree is toxic to dogs. Aside from this, I did really enjoy this product as the gel texture was really lightweight on my skin and easy to spread over the skin without excessively tugging.

This isn’t so much an ’empty’ but more I can’t dispense any more of this, and it’s the Boots Ingredients Vitamin C Serum. I was really intrigued seeing Boots expand their own-brand skincare ranges, so I want to try some of them out. This includes their vitamin C serum.

The serum itself is a bit odd: it’s a very thin watery formula but it also feels like it disappears once it’s on the skin. This is great for its lightweight consistency, but it also feels slightly tightening. Depending on your skin needs and comfort, this could be a good thing, but it just felt odd for me. Ultimately though, this is considered an empty for me as it’s managed to get clogged inside the dispenser and I can’t find a way to properly unclog it. So I won’t be repurchasing it, but I think if you’re just starting to try vitamin C products, this is a good affordable option at £6.00.

Finishing up with a couple of makeup empties, I finally reached the point where I can’t twist up the product with the Revolution Pro Define + Fill Micro Brow Pencil, which I used in the shade ‘Dark Brown‘. This was featured in my project pan for October to December 2020, but because I didn’t wear makeup very much throughout that period, I didn’t finish it.

This is a really nice brow pencil but it is a bit too warm in tone for my brows. I’m revisiting another brow pencil at the moment, but if this is still available in the future, I want to check out the shade range again and see if there’s a better shade for me.

Last of all, I’m letting go of the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in ‘Dark Brown‘. The one photographed above is the first one I’ve bought, but I’ve already purchased a back up that is now in my collection. I’ve also bought this shade for my mum. I love how well this lasts on my oily eyelids and is the same reason I gifted this to my mum. The £16.00 price tag is painful for me, but I plan to stick to my plan of buying this when it’s on sale so I can save every penny I can. This is absolutely worth buying, but being in the mid-high end price range, I do hesitate to want to buy it, even though I adore this product.

This concludes all of the products I’ve emptied throughout April 2021. I’m feeling really happy that I was able to share these empties with you, and I’m also really happy I can now recycle (where possible) these sooner rather than later! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post. It really means a lot to me to receive your support. I hope you are staying happy and healthy, and I’ll speak to you again soon.
